Margaret Mitchell Armand is a Haitian-born art collector who has lived in Plantation, Florida since 1979. She has dedicated herself to the promotion and sponsorship of Haitian Art and Culture for many years. She feels that art is a reflection of ones emotions and as such, each piece in her private collection expresses a facet of the human spirit. AThrough my experience in promoting art, she says, I want to encourage other people, especially the younger generation, to initiate similar endeavors for the ultimate benefit of artistic expression in all its forms and to facilitate access to such to the underprivileged. Her extensive travels have enabled her to explore the experiences and emotions of many cultures thorough their art.

Margaret is a licensed psychotherapist, Supreme Court Certified family mediator and conflict resolution consultant. She has presented in diverse workshops nationally and internationally in subjects related to children and family cross cultural issues. Her community advocacy continues to promote access to a better life for the diverse families she serves. She is fluent in Haitian- Creole, French, Spanish, and English.

Margaret Mitchell Armand has been awarded “The Spirit of Justice” by the Latin Americans United, Inc. In recognition of strong leadership to the community, commitment and support to the Haiti Forum on Haiti, Riches, Sovereignty, and Mobilizing Earthquake Relief with Human Rights, Healing and Dignity at the African American Culturel Center and Research Library at Fort-Lauderdale, Florida on March 13, 2010.

With all that has been happening in Haiti with all the distress and crisis following the earthquake on January 12, 2010, Margaret as an active member of IDASS takes part in, both as witness and participant. Her last trip in Port-au-Prince was on April 1, 2010 to support the victims of the tragedy that has destroyed the Haitian capital and many other cities in the south of Haiti on Janauray 12, 2010. For all of that, I have the great honor to inform the friends of www.jeansenatfleury.com’s Blog of this recognition.
