Giovanni Dotoli has published, edited and co-edited more than 70 books on French 17th and 19th century
literature, early 20th century French avant-garde culture, contemporary French Canadian literature, popular culture during the ’Ancien Régime », and the cultures of the Mediterranean, along with an extensive and award winning poetry work. He just completed a monumental Bibliographie du Voyage Français en Italie du Moyen Age au 19ème Siècle (Schena / Presses Universitaires de la Sorbonne) that will be presented at the forthcoming Foire du Livre in Paris. He is the author of about 300 articles and critical essays which appeared in the best established journals of Romance studies. Dr. Dotoli has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago, is currently a Visiting Professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, and just returned recently from the University of Tokyo where he was a guest lecturer.
He is also Vice President for International Relations of the University of Bari, and President of the Community of the Universities of the Mediterranean. He is Commandeur dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques and Officier de la Légion d’Honneur, and was awarded in 2000 the highly prestigious Grand Prix de l’Académie Française for his outstanding worldwide contribution to French literature and culture.
