Cancer de la prostate
Aventura Hospital and Medical Center will show their commitment to the community by supporting SNEAKERS AT WORK, a sweeping nationwide workplace-based awareness and fundraising event (shoelaces were bought for $5.00 and all the proceeds to go towards prostate cancer awareness and research) just prior to Father’s Day, which will bring major attention to the devastating silent killer among men, prostate cancer.
Employees, medical staff, and the community will be wearing sneakers with the blue shoelaces on Friday, June 15th, the day to raise national prostate cancer awareness and action. Â This year 230,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, the #2 cancer killer of men.
This year 30,000 men-husbands, brothers, fathers, coworkers-will die from prostate cancer. It is about time to do for men and prostate cancer what has already been done for women and breast cancer: increase awareness, change the odds and decrease the fatalities.
To find out more about Sneakers @ Work visit their website at www.sneakersatwork.org.
Heather J. Rohan, CEO of Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and Norman Leopold, Chairman of the Board of Trustees invites the staff, physicians, and the community to take a healthy walk around the campus at 11:30 a.m. (meet at the 2nd floor Mezzanine of the hospital).
Immediately, following the walk, walkers are invited to a luncheon back to the Mezzanine with Arnon Krongrad, M.D., prostate cancer surgeon and Medical Advisor to the American Prostate Cancer Initiative, sponsor of Sneakers AT Work, and prostate cancer survivors will be speaking about prostate cancer.
Soyez nombreux, Un peu partout à travers le monde, on célèbre la Fête des pères en marchant pour faire avancer la recherche sur le cancer de la prostate.
