L’heure est à la fête!
La fête nationale française, commémore la prise de la Bastille, qui a eu lieu le 14 juillet 1789 et a marqué le début de la Révolution française.
Un 14 Juillet 2014 très réussi !
Fidèles aux coutumes, les francophones et francophiles de Miami ont célébré la fête nationale du 14 juillet. C’est le Sofitel Hôtel qui nous a accueilli cette année, dans une ambiance chic, festive et une bonne humeur générale.
Pour le 70ème anniversaire, cette année, du débarquement des Alliés, les vétérans américains décorés ce 14 juillet sont Mr. Salvatore CALANDRA, Mr. Harold COHEN et Mr. Stanley HENDEL.

En ce 14 juillet, 3 vétérans américains ayant combattu en France pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale ont été décorés..
Au nom du Président de la République, nous vous faisons chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur,
1. Mr. Salvatore CALANDRA was born on July 20th, 1924 in Buffalo, New York. He joined the U.S. Army in December 1943. As a Technician Fourth Grade in the 372nd Military Police Escort Guard Company Mr. CALANDRA has distinguished himself by his determination and courage, participating in the Liberation of Southern France andthe Battle of the Rhineland.
For his outstanding achievements, the American government presented him with several awards such as, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medals and three Stripes.
2. Mr. Harold COHEN was born on December 31st , 1922, Asbury Park, New Jersey. He joined the U.S. Army in December 1942. As a Military Occupational Pilot in the 27th Air Transport Squadron, Mr. COHEN has distinguished himself by his determination and courage, participating in the Liberation of Normandy, the Liberation of Northern France, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland. For his outstanding achievements, the American government presented him with several awards such as, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Purple Heart.
3. Mr. Stanley HENDEL was born on March 23rd, 1917, in New London, Connecticut. He joined the U.S. Army in October 1942. As a Technician Third Grade in the 175th Signal Repair Company of the First Army, Mr. HENDEL has distinguished himself by his determination and courage, participating in the Liberation of Normandy, in the Liberation of Northern France, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland.
For his outstanding achievements, the American government presented him with several awards such as, the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.
Ils ont reçu la Légion d’honneur, plus haute décoration française, pour leur participation aux combats qui ont mené à la libération du pays et au retour de la paix en Europe
Nicole Hirsh, Conseillère à l’Assemblée des français de l’étranger a remis les médailles avec beaucoup de fierté et d’émotion.
Tomás Regalado, maire de la ville de Miami depuis 2009 a remis une plaque d’honneur et reconnaissance à Philippe Létrilliart, Consul Général de France à Miami.
Un bel hommage !
Philippe Létrilliart a pris ses fonctions de Consul général de France à Miami le 3 septembre 2013. Il était auparavant sous-directeur du Mexique, de l’Amérique centrale et des Caraïbes au Quai d’Orsay (2010-2013).
Louise Léger, consule générale du Canada à Miami depuis 2009. Au cours de sa carrière à Affaires étrangères et Commerce international Canada, elle a été affectée en Colombie, en Suisse et en Israël. En 1995, elle a été nommée ambassadrice du Canada au Panama, puis, en 2001, au Costa Rica avec accréditation simultanée auprès du Nicaragua et du Honduras.
Anaïde Govaert, ex-consule de Belgique, présidente du Lycée Franco-Américain de Cooper City, Jugnace Joseph, l’un des plus anciens employés du consulat de France à Miami, Nathalie Cluzet-Bertot, Attachée de presse au Consulat de France
John P. Bauer, Consul honoraire du Guatemala et son épouse.
Desjardins Bank, un des commanditaires de l’événement était bien représenté par Chantal Dutrisac et son équipe.
